The Himalayan Times 17 August 2012   It was sad and very unfortunate to see the political interference and influence in the universities and campuses while appointing VC, campus chiefs and deans during the recent years. Why is it so happening openly in the newly born Republic Nepal? What is the motive behind this shameless political game going on in the educational institutions? Is it because the political ego of the leaders and their parties? Is there any monetary involvement behind the chairs? Who does benefit out of this dirty game? Why can’t these institutions leave in their own to fill the vacant positions based on the established criteria?   Resident doctors and students at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) have warned of obstructing all services, except the emergency room, if the university did not revoke its decision to appoint a “junior” doctor as the new dean as reported in “TUTH docs to close services from today” (THT, 15 July, Page 2). The Kathmandu Post 17 August 2012 Political interference in government owned or affiliated organizations and institution is seemingly growing (“Political Appointment” in TUTH August 15, Page 2) . Why can’t the political parties mind their own business and let educational and health institutions run free from politics? Paying no attention to Dr. Govind KC’s fast-unto-death protest against the political appointment to higher level officials at TUTH, political leaders have appointed UML affiliated junior doctor as Dean. This is wrong not only because the appointment is political, but also because clearly the doctor is not capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of the office of the Dean. The Himalayan Times 13 August 2012 It was not surprising to read the news report “Opposition parties shift stance on polls” (THT, August 8, Page 1) with regard to NC and UML . The bosses have now started on high volume for new polls. Otherwise, they were earlier opposing the Dr. Baburam Bhattari (BRB) led coalition government’s call for CA election. They seem extremely frustrated loosing their political title “Mananiyajeu”. That is why; they seem hell-bent after Dr. Baburam Bhattarai’s (BRB) resignation who cunningly killed CA, a few hours before its natural death. Does it make any sense to repeatedly ask BRB’s resignation who has been categorically labelled by the President as the care taker PM? Why don’t the oppositions name their common candidate as the new PM rather than hounding BRB for nothing? Why don’t they come to a consensus to hold fresh election on a suitable date and settle the on-going political and constitutional crisis soonest possible? The main issue is

The Himalayan Times 30 July 2012 After the sad demise of Constitution Assembly (CA), it has been almost one and half month for the common people anxiously waiting to see political solutions for the current political stalemate and constitutional vacuum. However, looking closely at the ongoing political activities, there does not seem to be any immediate solutions in hand. The major political parties continue to blame each other for the current political impasse. Opposition parties want the President to act as per their suggestions. The President continues to say that he would not take any decision undermining the good faith of the Interim Constitution as reported in “ Won’t take decision in haste: Prez” (THT, July 25, Page 5) .
