UNJUST DECISION

It seems that Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai led coalition government does not consider that there is a constitution albeit interim to govern the country with constitutional norms and values seeing its undemocratic move taken recently by asking Nepal army (NA) to make provision for recruiting 3000 Medhesi youths in the name of inclusiveness. How does this process become possible in Nepal where several ethnic groups exist? It was such an immature decision made by the government that could simply invite ethnical grievances and disturbances. The government had to, anyhow, bow down to its knees and reverse its decision due to excessive pressures made by different groups. Thanks to the representatives of Chure Bhawar Party for timely registering writ petition against the government’s unconstitutional act. Likewise, the Supreme Court (SC) deserves appreciation for issuing stay order. The government and the political parties should be the sincere implementers of constitutional norms and values not

Building the new

In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete. My life is ever new. Each moment of my life is new and fresh and vital. I use my affirmative thinking to create exactly what I want. This is a new day. I am a new me. I think differently, I speak differently, I act differently. Others treat me differently. My new world is reflection of my new thinking. It is a joy and a delight to plant new seeds, for I know these seeds will become my new experience. All is well in my world. I have quoted this from Louise L. Hay's book " YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE" Please try to get this book and enjoy your life. I am not so sure whether you can get it in Kathmandu. I got it from Shishir and I thanked him with my whole heart for making my life much better.

In the name of Inclusiveness

The Himalayan Times 28 December 2011 It seems that the word ”inclusiveness” is being interpreted in their own way by the political leaders in the name of reciprocal representation of the multi-ethnic groups of Nepal. Why are they trying to create confusions among the common people by disturbing the traditional co-existence of multi cultural and multi-ethnic groups for their petty political interests? Why we have been so sensitive and suspicious these days when we hear and talk about “inclusiveness” which was already there in Nepal for so many ages? All the ethnic groups with multi religion culture were living together without any grievances and disturbances. Have we been made to listen to the political leaders and believe in whatever they say?    The government has, not surprisingly, decided to include 3000 Madhesis in the Nepal Army (NA) at such time when Nepal is politically passing through a very precarious situation. Should not the so called major political parties have to colle

MAD MORCHA

Image
The Kathmandu Post 14 December 2011 It was surprising to read the news report that the Morcha are threatening to quit the government at such a time when the Morcha and Maoists should have been cohesively working and smoothly facilitating the peace and constitution drafting processes (“Morcha threatens to withdraw from govt.” Dec.13, Page 1). It sounds funny when one of the coalition partners blames the other for not abiding by the deal. Blaming each other for not working towards the common goal would simply burden this period of transition. Especially now, as we know the SC has only given the CA another six months of life, and a lot needs to be achieved in this time. The coalition government has comfortably enjoyed a three-month honeymoon period and they have not handled state affairs as envisaged. The people had high hopes from this government to relieve the common people from economic hardship, and yet as usual, they have been let down. Rai Biren Bangdel Maharajgunj, Kathm

The Himalayan Times 12 December 2011 The decision of the then government led by Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to implement the Employment Scheme for Youth (ESFY) sounded very encouraging and thought to be extremely beneficial with regard to helping the unemployed youths to earn their livelihood. The possible misuse of the fund was ignored as many unemployed youths would directly benefit out of this scheme. As anticipated, after two years of its implementation, the scheme has now landed in hot soup due to faulty programming and poor management system in place. It seems that the programs to support and engage the unemployed youths were not properly identified and detailed out. There had to be extensive discussions among the stakeholders about the nature and types of program activities to be included in ESFY for which the government would then have disbursed the necessary funds to the concerned financial institutions. The target groups had to be properly scrutinized with a view t

LUMBINI PANEL

Image
The Kathmandu Post 7 December 2011 The plan to hold an international meeting on Lumbini in March next year is   encouraging, as it will work towards establishing Nepal as a destination for religious tourism (“Lumbini panel gears up for int’l meet in March” Dec.6, Page 1). The Lumbini Development National Steering Committee deserves appreciation for this initiative. Likewise, the government’s recent declaration to make 2012 Visit Lumbini year seems to perfectly coincide with this international-level meeting as well. The timing of these two events would also positively exert pressure on the government and the political parties to finish off two prime tasks of peace and constitution as well. As outlined in the CA’s revised calendar, the first draft of the new constitution is supposed to be endorsed by 5 March, 2012 . And if the major political parties remain sincere and committed towards their promises, the chances of UN Secretary General’s attendance of the high level meeting will

Is it true?

In the infinity of life I am, all is perfect, whole and complete. I no longer choose to begin in old limitations and lack I now choose to begin to see myself as the Universe sees me - perfect, whole and complete. Th truth of being is that I was created  perfect, whole and complete. I will always be perfect, whole and complete. I now choose to live my life from this understanding. I am in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing. All is well in my world. I have quoted the above paragraphs from Louise L. Hay's book "YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE".

Kudos

The Himalayan Times 2 December 2011 Kudos to the Supreme Court for slapping political parties, who had extended CA’s term for three times in their own, with its recent historical decision with regard to the CA’s final extension. Its verdict was a massive blow to the major political parties which had acted irresponsibly during the last three and half years. They remained united only for arbitrarily extending CA’s term for the third time. Many deals were signed among them in the name of consensus politics. None of the deals were properly implemented. This time, they (NC, UML, UCPN(M) and United Mdhes Front) have signed another six-point deal as reported in “Six-month extension after six-point deal (THT, Nov.30, Page 1). However, the PM Bhattarai and DPM Gachhedar had completely ruled out the next day about the possibility of new government. On the other side, NC (one of the signatories of six-point deal) has started publicly claiming the leadership of the next government. What kind o
