Inviting downfall

Image
Inviting downfall The on-going political rift between the two chairpersons of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is nothing but the tussles of two highly ambitious, egoistic and selfish communist leaders having different political philosophies and principles. They have nothing to do with the national interests and other burning issues and concerns of the common people besides just fulfilling their personal political benefits for their own sake and their coterie, as the political critics opine. I can see and imagine the frustration of the people with the NCP government led by K.P.Oli looking at the sloppy performance of his government. It has completely failed to meet the expectation of the common people who are in dire needs of relief program packages during this Covid 19 pandemic. Looking these days at the group of people coming out to the streets expressing their frustration and anger, it seems that the two chairs and their government are digging holes for their downfalls. I still hop

Can the NCP politically survive as one single party?

Can the NCP politically survive as one single party?  The on-going political power struggle between the Nepal Communist Party two chairpersons possessing two different communist principals and ideologies is nothing but their political egos which have surfaced now for their own political interests.   How could it be possible for the second rung leaders and the NCP as a whole to accommodate and hold these two highly ambitious and opportunist chairpersons together? As the political and constitutional experts opine that these two chairpersons agreeing to merge their parties just before the three levels of election held in 2017 was nothing but to fulfil for their personal political benefits. It has been almost three years the NCP has not been able to complete their unification process because of their two different communist principles and ideologies. The political feud at the apex level of the NCP will continue to exist until one of the chairpersons agrees to compromise with the ot

Better split the party and take your own ways

Better split the party and take your own ways I am sure the people might not be surprised to know that the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is on the verge of split as reported in todays (Nov.2/20) The Kathmandu Post. As I have been saying and expressing my concerns for a long time that the two so called communist parties were merged just before the election for their personal political interests and benefits. It has been almost three years; the people have been made fool and were compelled to see their unwanted political drama. With high expectations, people had voted the NCP during the last general elections and gave them the opportunity to form the strongest and powerful government in the political history of Nepal. Instead, the people have been badly betrayed by this NCP government in many ways. Instead of being sincere and accountable to the people, the senior leaders of this party started playing opportunistic and self-centred politics ignoring completely the hardships of the

Is the government weakening the constitution?

Is the government weakening the constitution? The then seven party alliance had signed 12 point agreement with the then Maoist who had fought almost eleven years , so called people’s war, against the state,. Following this agreement, election of Constitution Assembly (CA) was held to draft the new constitution. However, the first CA failed to fulfil its responsibility and its tenure was extended as the Second Constitution Assembly which drafted the new constitution and had promulgated it in 2015. As a result, three tiers of elections were held. The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) formed just before the elections by merging the then UML and Moist (Centre), won almost two third majority votes and is now running the federal government, six out seven provincial governments and most of the local governments. These governments, however, have failed to meet the expectations of the common people and seem to be engaged in self-centred politics undermining the national and public interests.
