CIAA lining

Image
The Himalayan Times 30 December 2013 CIAA lining This is in response to the news report “Corruption rife in local bodies: CIAA chief” (THT, 25 Dec. Page 6). Corruption has been the people’s concern these days. It is known to everybody that the corruption in Nepal has been deep rooted and institutionalized over the last one and half decades that has made Nepal as one of the most corrupt nation in the world. Nepal will continue to be listed likewise unless and until massive efforts are made to curb the ongoing rampant corruption that has plagued the country. The political parties, which had led the government in the past, were unable to make any political appointments to key constitutional bodies including Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) because of their political interests. That had made the CIAA ineffective in efficiently carrying out its mandated jobs. Soon after the controversial appointment of Lokman Singh Karki as its Chief a few mont

Frustrating acts

It's really tiring and frustrating to see the major political parties continue to extend the deadline for submitting the list of names of their PR candidates. What an irresponsible and immoral acts is this? They should have submitted the names soon after the announcement of the allocation of PR seats by the EC. Instead, they are lingering the selection process and continue to undermine the people's verdict. These parties talk much about democracy, its norms and values, however, are doing purely undemocratic practices. Hope, they realize it in time, correct their mistakes accordingly and lead the nation towards prosperity. On line jobs

Will they learn any lesson?

Image
The Himalayan Times 20 December 2013 Will they learn any lesson? It was interesting to read the news report “Will new lawmakers shun foreign junkets this time?” (THT, 18 Oct. Page 1) that must have drawn the attention of many readers. THT deserves appreciation for making detailed research on this issue and bringing out the findings. It was shameful on the part of the lawmakers who made frequent foreign junkets in the pretext of gaining knowledge about the constitution but failing completely in fulfilling their mandated jobs? It was shocking to know that some of the law makers had even visited foreign countries over 18 times. It shows how much the previous CA lawmakers were irresponsible and insensible towards their jobs. Most of the lawmakers of erstwhile CA had acquired diplomatic passports. About half a dozen among them were found involving in selling their diplomatic passports for hefty amount of money. These acts clearly indicate that they were interested in makin

Virtual Private Network

Image
I am not sure how many internet users are using this Virtual Private Network (VPN) in Nepal. This is mainly used for hiding IP if any internet user wishes to do so. There are many such systems that helps to hide IPs, however, VPN is considered to be best one among others. VPN is not necessary and required for everyone. It is a complicated system to set up and may not be required to every internet users. Its prices vary depending upon the package that is demanded. While I was looking more information about VPN, I found this site http://disappearvpn.com/ . If you have similar information, please share here. Many thanks.

No more nasty games

Image
Major political parties have again started playing nasty political game by delaying nomination of PR candidates and submitting it to the Election Office. It is sad and not encouraging to see their political immorality. If they continue to act irresponsibly, they cannot draft the new constitution within a year. All the media, civil society members, HR activists and politically aware individuals should now start exerting positive pressure on the so called senior leaders of major political parties. Otherwise, Nepal and Nepali people will suffer again in the same way they had suffered in the last 5/6 years. What you say?

Honour people’s verdict

Image
The Himalayan Times 7 December2013 Honour people’s verdict The second CA election is finally over. The end results of both PR and direct election are now publicly known. It was not surprising to see the people’s verdicts as they were tired of destructive politics during the last six years. None of the major political parties have been able to garner a two third majority. They have been clearly mandated to draft the new constitution within a year as they had promised in their political manifestos. It seems that the people would not want to see the country to be federated. If need arises to be federated, then it should be on a multi ethnicity identity system rather than on a single ethnicity based system. Likewise, one Madhes and one Prades concept has been clearly rejected by the people considering the defeat of Madesh based political parties. It is encouraging to see that 30 political parties have been able to make it to the second CA as reported in “PR seats allott

Fulfill promises

I am desperate to see the new government to be lead by NC bringing other political stakeholders on board and quite optimistic about seeing new constitution in people's hands within one year as promised by them in their political manifestos. The people have clearly rejected the concepts of single ethnicity identity based federalism and one madhes and one pradesh and have mandated the parties those are going to represent in the second CA to go along with monarchist for the sake of the country and draft the new constitution accordingly.
