Fantastic decision

Image
The Himalayan Times 1 April 2021 Fantastic decision Finally, PM Oli, also as the chairperson of the UML, decided to suspend Madhav Nepal and Bhim Rawal from the party for the next six months, saying that the suspension period could be shortened or extended depending on their political actions and motives “UML suspends leaders Madhav Nepal, Bhim Rawal for six months” (THT, 30 March, Page 1). If I were asked what actions I would recommend for their anti-party activity, I would say suspend them forever. I really appreciated PM Oli’s move to suspend them for their acts to undermine the statue of the party. They are to be blamed for compelling Oli to dissolve the House and seek a fresh mandate of the people.   Having said this, I have personally nothing to do with the party and its senior leaders. This is just to express my concern and anger, as a senior citizen and a voter, towards their unhealthy and immoral political acts when they were supposed to be concentrating their time a

Can Oli government survive?

Image
Can Oli government survive? I am just wondering what happens to Oli government if Prachanda and team withdraws its support to the government.   Can it survive joining hands with JSP-N? It does not seem that the NC comes forward for its rescue for a number internal and external power games.     I see the possibility of continuation of Oli government for some unusual reasons even if the JSP-N, the Maoist-Centre and the NC decide to join hands. This coalition government does not last long for some technical reasons. Even if it becomes reality, then this coalition government will be the next most corrupt government that will rob the central treasury.   PM Oli’s decision to dissolve the HoR and go for the mid-term polls was the most favourable political option for the nation considering the political uncertainty created by his fellow comrades. However, the SC’s verdict put a break on his move. It remains to be seen whether the nation will see another coalition government in the next

Between the UMLs

Image
Between the UMLs The on-going factional politics in the CPN-UML has been the talk of the town. It has been a political fun game for its well-wishers and hot topic for the political analysts and critics. Both the factions are trying their level best to undermine each other by flexing their political muscles and trying to pull the second rung leaders towards them. It is yet to be seen who wins the race. Having said these, it is still not good for both the party as a whole and the senior leaders who claim to be the champions of communism. Also, the timing of their factional politics does not seem to be appropriate considering the pandemic situation and for strengthening peoples’ democracy in the country. It would be much better for the senior leaders of both the factions to either settle down their differences within the party rather than publicly defaming each other or take their own ways as soon as they can and let nation move ahead in its own political course. If not, be ready fo

Politically failed leaders

The Himalayan Times 25 March 2021 Politically failed leaders The nation is likely to be held a political hostage by the on-going political mess for some more time as the senior leaders of CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Centre, Nepali Congress (NC) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP-N) engage themselves heavily in self-centred, irresponsible power politics. They are finding it difficult to trust each other because of their past unethical and opportunist political acts “Mistrust for Dahal leaves JSP-N in dilemma” (THT, 23 March, Page 1). Following the Supreme Court’s verdict on the then Nepal Communist Party (NCP), both the CPN-UML and CPN-MC are now on their own. It is known to everybody that all these political parties are heavily infected with fictional politics. For example: one faction led by Ramchandra Poudel of the NC continues with its effort to oust the Oli-led government whereas the other faction led by Sher Bahadur Deuba says “NC will not join govt: NC President Deuba” (THT online

Mid-term election and referendum simultaneously

Image
Mid-term election and referendum simultaneously The people are tired of politicians who make wonderful promises but have miserably failed to fulfill their rosy promises. As a result, they seem to be gradually losing their credibility by days. However, having said that, the level of political awareness among the majority number of the people is still low which has been the advantage for the politicians to lure them towards their irresponsible and dirty politics. In the recent past weeks, we saw thousands of innocent people out in the streets to cheer up the so-called senior leaders who have miserably failed to lead the nation. We can see now the senior leaders and their parties are busy in forming another coalition government following the Supreme Court’s decision to nullify the unification of NCP a few days ago thus splitting the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist. It was, in fact, a huge legal blow to them. This situation has created another political chaos in the country which might invite

Need of the hour: apolitical government and the mid-term election

Image
Need of the hour: apolitical government and the mid-term election I am not so sure about the other people like me whether they are questioning about the usefulness of our existing constitution which so far has not been able to address the issues and concerns of the nation and the people. I don’t see any tangible things around to see, feel and experience during the last three years except unproductive and filthy political activities. It was so sad and unfortunate to see the senior leaders of the ruling party engaged in blame game accusing each other for no valid political reasons.              Now, one of the senior leaders, Prachanda asking the common people to come out in the streets for peaceful agitation to save the constitution seems to be absolutely irrelevant at this time when the nation is already in political mess. His political image following the Supreme Court verdict nullifying NCP seems to be on the verge of diminishing in the days to come if he continues to play foul

Stop playing deceptive politics

Image
Stop playing deceptive politics It will be interesting to see the political drama of NCP’s two factions in today’s House which is scheduled to commence from today after the Supreme Court gave its verdict to reinstate the HoR. Both the NCPs factions continue to claim for their majority number in their favour. This is how the people have to see their leaders behaving so irresponsibly for their own sake, benefits and personal benefits. They do not seem to be serious and sincere towards addressing the hardships of the people who have been hit hard due to sky-rocketing market prices when they have lost their income sources due to corona pandemic.   One faction led by Dahal-Madhav Nepal is running around for looking another Prime Minister by sidelining the incumbent PM whereas the other faction led by Prime Minister Oli seems to be confident of facing the vote of no-confidence motion if tabled by the other faction and continue running the government. What a political joke is it to
