Explosive situation

Image
The Himalayan Times 27 January 2012   The coalition government continues to make irresponsible and undemocratic acts one after another undermining the democratic norms and values. Such acts have created unwanted confrontation among the major political parties in the CA who were and are supposed to be cohesively working towards the completion of peace process and drafting of new constitution by the middle of July 2012. Instead, they seem to be entangling in unnecessary verbal wars and blame games creating unhealthy political environment at such a time when they had to be spending their valuable time on timely finishing the twin tasks mandated by the people. Looking closely at the immoral political acts of senior leaders of major political parties, it seems that the Nepali people, who had blindly supported them during II Jana Andolan, continue to get suffered more and have even more difficult days ahead. Unless, the people themselves realize now and act accordingly to correct the lea

PUBLIC FURY

Image
The Kathmandu Post 27 January 2012  THE Kathmandu denizens had to forcefully observe yet another day valley closure called by 13 student unions affiliated to several political parties including Maoist against the government’s recent petrol price hike (“Tide of public fury against petro price hike, fuel shortage rises” January 25, Page one) . The general people and students throughout the country were furious over the massive price hike of petroleum products and showing their frustrations out in the streets. But I am bit surprised as to why the major political parties simply asked their sister organizations to flex their muscles. Was it simply a political ploy being staged to deceive mass population who are furious over the government’s un-friendly decisions? The opposition should have instead raised the public-related issue in the parliament, Rai Biren Bangdel Maharajgunj, Kathmandu

CRIMINAL MP

Image
The Kathmandu Post 20 January 2012   KUDOS to the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) for its bold step to arrest Shyam Sunder Gupta CA lawmaker, for his alleged involvement in masterminding abduction of Pawan Sanghai (“Gupta the “mastermind”, Court send him in custody” January 18, Page one) . It is hoped that this is the beginning of the long haul chase to put all real culprits behind bars, no matter what positions they hold. The MPCD should continue to show its guts to go after other high profile criminals, who are still under the protection of political parties and wandering around enjoying the fruits of the state coffer, and put them behind bars too. CA lawmakers found to be involved in such criminal acts should be immediately stripped of their entitlement. If such provisions are not in the Interim Constitution, then the constitution should be amended accordingly considering the supremacy of CA. The people are extremely frustrated seeing the criminal lawmakers go unpuni

Corrupt government

As I had written in both the Kathmandu Post and The Himalayan Times one week ago about the fuel crisis in Nepal, the Nepal government deceived the consumers increasing prices of petrolium products overnight. The people will definitely have hard time to cope with double digit inflation. I am not so sure how long the poor people of Republic Nepal will be able tolerate this corrupt government. It seems to me that they will have to see more difficult days ahead because of their blind support to the corrupt leaders of major political parties five years ago. Listening regulary to talk program over FM radio, people have been bold enough to ask former King to step in and save the nation. I am not surprised.

No deceiving

The Himalayan Times 19 January 2012   The people of Nepal have seen and experienced in the pasts several deals and agreements signed among the so called big political parties to patch up their political weaknesses and for their petty political interests in the name of peace and new constitution drafting processes. I see now the tremendous frustration among majority of the people who have started expressing their serious concerns and dissatisfaction about the Big Three’s irresponsible acts and blame games. Listening regularly to a FM radio talk program, it seems to me that the difficult days are ahead for the so called senior leaders of the major political parties if they did not start behaving well and correcting their destructive political acts. The people are fed up up-to their neck with the ongoing immoral political activities of the Big Three. There was a high hope of the people from the incumbent government led by Dr. Baburam Bhattarai (BRB) who had received great deal of people

FUEL FRANTIC

The Kathmandu Post 6 January 2012   The acute shortage of petroleum products in the country especially within the Kathmandu valley has hardly hit the mobility of its denizens. (“Fuel crisis linger,” January 5, Page 1). The regular traffic volume has reduced to more than fifty percent during the last four days. The serpentine queues of motorbikes and vehicles in-front of the petrol pumps have been the normal but frustrating sites. Thanks to the advocates of Consumer Rights Protection Forum for knocking   on the Apex Court ’s door for the gross negligence by the government and Nepal Oil Corporation for their irresponsibility. Likewise, the Apex Court deserves appreciation for ordering the concerned to smoothly supply fuel. Until the dirty games of earning commission and corruption are controlled and private organizations are engaged, the monopoly of NOC will continue to remain in place. However, the question of “who is going to control these irregularities” remains unanswered. Rai

Fuel shortage

The Himalayan Times 6 January 2012   The serpentine queues of motorbikes and vehicles in-front of the petrol pumps have been the normal but frustrating sites to see. The consumers have to wait for hours and hours to get partial filled fuel tank. The acute shortage of petroleum products in the country especially within the Kathmandu valley has hit the mobility of its denizens. Regular traffic volume has reduced to more than fifty percent during the last four days. Likewise, the shortage of cooking gas has also troubled the housewives. The common people have been found to be paying more than the normal price for a cylinder LPG. However, it is not easily available. Who is responsible for smooth supply of these petroleum products that fall under the essential service? Is it the government, NOC or the Nepal Petroleum Dealers Association (NPDA) or all of them? ` It was not uncommon to see the shortage of petroleum products in Nepal in the past also due to shortsightedness of the governme

PROSPERITY

In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete. I am one with the Power that created me I am totally open and receptive to the abundant flow of prosperity that the Universe offers. All my needs and desires are met before I even ask. I am Divinely guided and protected, and I make choices that are beneficial for me. I rejoice in others' successes, knowing there is plenty for us all. I am constantly increasing my conscious awareness of abundance, and this reflects in a constantly increasing income. My good comes from everywhere and everyone. All is well in my world.
