What a disheartening news!

What a d isheartening news! I was wondering if the family members back home of any Nepali migrant workers, who died in foreign lands while serving in the international organizations, had received any compensation or not in accordance with the signed contract. I am also not so sure who, in Nepal, is responsible to ensure that their family received the actual amount of compensation.   Is it the concerned manpower agency or the government’s concerned organization? I was shocked to read a news report published in today’s (August 31, 2020) The Kathmandu Post about the international agencies not paying the proper amount of compensation to the victim’s family or even not at all.    Are our embassies given responsibilities to look after such issues and lawfully ask the concerned agencies to pay full compensation amount to the victim’s family back home? If not, looking at Dhan Kumari’s case, who lost her only the bread earner husband in a Taliban suicide bomb attack in Sept

Stay healthy and enjoy life I am doing positive affirmations in the morning and evening for the last several years after my son gifted me a book " You can heal your life" authored by Louise L. Hay. Since then, I have been able to chase away some of my age related health problems and maintain my energy level high. Age has been simply an arithmetic numbers for me.  While I was checking my LinkedIn account this morning, I noticed this energy tree posted by Ms, Rasina Shrestha, Inspiring Writer/Speaker and Mr. Kamal Thapa, Relationship Manager at Civil Bank Limited and wished to share this with my regular blog visitors.  Stay Home and Stay Safe.   Please Maintain Covid 19 Safety Protocols.

Health workers reusing disposable masks

Image
Health workers reusing disposable masks Until today, a total of 500 plus health staff have been infected with COVID-19 all over the country. It is so unfortunate to see them getting infected in the absence of proper and protective health equipment. They are the ones who day and night are serving the people putting their lives at risk and are now being blamed for transmitting the virus to the other people. In a few recent cases, some of them including even the doctors were abused by the local community asking them to leave their locality fearing that their areas would be infected by them (health staff). They are compelled to reuse the disposable face mask for over a week as they have not been provided by their respective health institutions be it state run hospitals, health service centres, and private hospitals citing out of stock.  Can we imagine what will happen to the infected persons if these health workers denied working in their respective hospitals fearing t

Is federalism working in Nepal ?

Image
Is federalism working in Nepal? It has been almost three years the federal structure is in place in accordance with the new constitution promulgated in 2015. All the three tiers of governments are in existence following the completion of three levels of general elections in 2017. However, these governments especially the local and provincial governments, are working in their own ways due to lack of essential laws to be needed to run their governments in the spirit of federal structure. These laws were and are supposed to be formulated and passed by the parliament in the past three years. However, the parliamentarians were never seemed serious to formulate the necessary laws required for the sub-governments. It indicates that the central government does not want to devolve power to the sub governments.  Now, the effectiveness of these governments is now widely criticized because of their ways of governing the local, provincial and federal governments.
