Deceptive Politics

Listening to Anarsingh Karki over a FM talk program a few days ago, I was pretty nervous and had goose bumps all over my body thinking that, if he was true, we would remain no more Nepali if the Big Three continued to play deceptive politics with each other, I was fortunate to get the telephone line in the next talk program with the same FM and tell the program host to retransmit the Karki’s talk program for second time so that more Nepali would have an opportunity to hear about the intention of 12 point agreement that was signed among the then seven parties in Delhi, India almost six years ago.

According to him, both NC and UML, who repeatedly claim to be the champions of democracy, had already loosened their trousers and shed their democratic skins while signing the 12 point agreement with UCPN (M) who used to claim to be against the parliamentary system. This unnatural partnership among the then seven parties was a blow to disturb the peaceful existence of sovereign Nepal and created favorable environment for the foreign powers to play for their vestigial political interest. It was really sad and disturbing to know from Karki that the ten years peoples’ war in Nepal was fought under the instruction of foreign power for their petty political interest.

Listening further to Karki and looking closely at the on-going political polarizations among the major political parties the coming days do seem to be politically more disturbed to destabilize Nepal to fulfill the petty political interest of foreign power which would be very unfortunate to witness while everybody are talking about new Nepal.

However, it does not seem that the Nepali people would easily let their country slip out of their hands. Thanks to UCPN (M) for their political propaganda and contribution made knowingly or unknowingly towards raising awareness of Nepali people (both urban and rural) and making them more sensitive and conscious about their nationalism. Time has come for the people to be vigilant towards the scary political situation and take bold step to safeguard their sovereignty.

2083/84 budget at a glance

2083/84 budget at a glance The Balen led government , which is almost two-thirds majority government secured in the March 2026 elections , has announced its annual budget 2,124.34 billion on May 29, 2026, as the largest budget in Nepal's history, representing a 25.2 present increase over the revised estimates of the current fiscal year 2082/83.  Most of the financial experts and economic analysts opine that this budget, although optimistic, has broadly, boldly and wisely covered key and major aspects of the national all round development. Huge tax reforms , massive infrastructure allocations, transformative sectoral policies, 7 percent targets on economic growth and inflation capped at 6 per cent are the key aspects of the highly optimistic budget. This shows a departure from a decade of political instability toward productive governance. It has included first sovereign AI computing centre, doubling of personal income tax exemption thresholds , 21 percent civil servant sal...
