Reasons for abrupt dissolution of House of Representatives

Reasons for abrupt dissolution of House of Representatives

I am not surprised to read the news about Narayanman Bijukchhe saying that PM Oli had saved the nation from a big crisis by dissolving the HoR. Bijukchhe is known to be an outspoken person sticking to his political philosophy and principles. However, I am not so sure in what way or reasons Oli saved the nation from disintegration. I expect we will be hearing and knowing about such a bold and strong opinion in the days to come.

Personally, I, as a senior citizen and a Non-Badi (either Political Badi or Royalist Badi) person, will agree with Bijukchhe in one sense. That is, Oli has taken a bold political step to dissolve the parliament keeping in mind the never ending harassment from his own party senior leaders who continued challenging him for nothing but power sharing which was completely against the constitution. He has now sought the general public to participate in the upcoming mid-term elections and sincerely vote for the right candidates dedicated for the well-being of the nation and its people.

I still feel that the nation should take a consolidated and reconciliatory political approach keeping in mind the past political mistakes and wrong doings of the political forces, royalist and the King himself.  For this, all these forces have to join their hands and come up with a doable and compatible political structure that would accommodate the feelings of all the Nepali people. Having said these, my suggestion to them would be sitting down on the round table and come to a consensus on the future political system after doing extensive deliberations on the past political mistakes and wrongdoings. That could be one of the best, suitable and most appropriate political systems for the betterment of the country and its people.

My suggestion to them would be to formulate a high level commission comprising constitutional experts for drafting a political system wherein multi-party representations with the constitutional monarch as the head of state with explicitly outlined constitutional rights. This political draft should be made public for extensive discussions for their endorsements and then only give it a final touch. Until then, an election government needs to be formed under apolitical individual (could be a retired chief Justice).

Let us see, whether these forces would realize on time and act accordingly. If not, the country and its people would definitely suffer more in the days to come.

2083/84 budget at a glance

2083/84 budget at a glance The Balen led government , which is almost two-thirds majority government secured in the March 2026 elections , has announced its annual budget 2,124.34 billion on May 29, 2026, as the largest budget in Nepal's history, representing a 25.2 present increase over the revised estimates of the current fiscal year 2082/83.  Most of the financial experts and economic analysts opine that this budget, although optimistic, has broadly, boldly and wisely covered key and major aspects of the national all round development. Huge tax reforms , massive infrastructure allocations, transformative sectoral policies, 7 percent targets on economic growth and inflation capped at 6 per cent are the key aspects of the highly optimistic budget.
