Don’t let the Health Delivery System collapse
What a shameful and messy political drama is going on in our nation when the common people are dying in hundreds by days due to COVID-19. All the government and private hospitals are fully occupied with increasing number of COVID-19 infected patients. Senior leaders of so-called major political parties are completely engrossed in power politics rather than spending their valuable time in saving the lives of the people by collectively putting their efforts towards seeking immediate solutions to overcome the current health crisis. It seems that the existing health delivery system is about to collapse in the absence of adequate human and financial resources.
Innocent people are losing their lives due to dreadful COVID-19.
So painful to see someone losing her/his dear and near ones
More people are dying everyday due to shortages of oxygen cylinders.
Health staff waiting for to be vaccinated. However, they themselves get infected while serving the COVID-19 patients.
My suggestion to the government and all the leaders of major political parties would be the following:
1. Redirect unspent billions of rupees of all the planned development projects to the COVID-19 funds.
2. Hire immediately adequate number of health staff on contract basis and assign them to all the health facilities.
3. Supply necessary health equipment and medicines including oxygen cylinders and portable oxygen concentrators to all the government and private hospitals,
4. Provide adequate budgets to the district level COVID Management Committees authorizing them to manage district based permanent and temporary health delivery service outlets with necessary human and other resources.
If the government fails to act soon, thousands of innocent people will lose their precious lives in the coming days and the country may enter into painful and horrible health crisis.
