PUBLIC FURY

 The Kathmandu Post
27 January 2012
THE Kathmandu denizens had to forcefully observe yet another day valley closure called by 13 student unions affiliated to several political parties including Maoist against the government’s recent petrol price hike (“Tide of public fury against petro price hike, fuel shortage rises” January 25, Page one). The general people and students throughout the country were furious over the massive price hike of petroleum products and showing their frustrations out in the streets. But I am bit surprised as to why the major political parties simply asked their sister organizations to flex their muscles. Was it simply a political ploy being staged to deceive mass population who are furious over the government’s un-friendly decisions? The opposition should have instead raised the public-related issue in the parliament,

2083/84 budget at a glance The Balen led government , which is almost two-thirds majority government secured in the March 2026 elections , has announced its annual budget 2,124.34 billion on May 29, 2026, as the largest budget in Nepal's history, representing a 25.2 present increase over the revised estimates of the current fiscal year 2082/83.  Most of the financial experts and economic analysts opine that this budget, although optimistic, has broadly, boldly and wisely covered key and major aspects of the national all round development.
