Adieu to Pradhan and Karki

It was very sad to learn the untimely death of two renowned persons, Prem Dhoj Pradhan and Chetan Karki, who dedicated their whole lives in the field of Nepali music, culture, movie and literature.

Known for singing gems like ‘Ghumti ma Naau’, ‘Namana Laaj Yestari’, ‘Rajamati Kumati’, ‘Para Laijau Phool Haru’, Pradhan passed away on May 6, 2021 at the age of 82. He has left behind hundreds of melodious songs in the midst of us. It was Pradhan who built the foundation of Nepali modern music.In his lifetime, Pradhan sang more than 700 songs. His contribution to Nepalbhasa music was also significant. He popularised many Nepalbhasa songs including, ‘Rajamati Kumati’ and ‘Wa Chhu Gali Tho Chu Gali’.

Known as a Nepali songwriter and film director, Karki died on 16 May 2021 at the age of 84. He started his writing career in the Nepali film industry by writing the script of 'Paribartan.As a writer, he has written a collection of songs, stories, and novels. A collection of songs titled, ‘Aatma Becheko Chhaina,’ 'Hatkelale Sadhai Surya Chekidaina’, ‘Ho Desh Mero Pani’, 'Basibiyanlo', ‘Maya Piratiko Chiso Katha.'are among his many contributions left behind in the field of arts and culture.

Proud to be Gurkhas

King Charles III of the United Kingdom has applauded the formation of King's Gurkha Artillery unit which was formally established in April 2025. The King was greeted with a 21-gun salute at the venue and offered with a large traditional flower garland around his neck. He observed the parade being organised to celebrate the creation of the Army's first dedicated Gurkha Artillery Unit . Over the next three years, 400 Gurkha personnel will join the unit. He highly praised the decade old enduring and deeply valued relationship between the United Kingdom and Nepal . During the event, he met military staff and families and posed for an official portrait with the soldiers.
