Adieu to veteran actor Sunill Thapa

 


Veteran actor Sunil Thapa passed away at the age of 68 on Sunday, February 7, at Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu, with suspected cardiac arrest. A respected figure in Nepali cinema, who also appeared in Bollywood and Bhojpuri films, was famous for his villainous roles. 

He was a towering figure in the Nepali cinema and has appeared in over 300 films. Apart from Nepali films, the actor also made a mark in Bhojpuri and Hindi films.He made his debut in Bollywood movie with Ek Duuje Ke Liye, starring Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri

He played in over 300 Nepali films and became widely popular for his role as Rate Kaila in Chino. He had won several honours, including the Motion Pictures Award Nepal twice.


Sunil played a key supporting role in a Hindi cinema-Mary Kom as  Priyanka Chopra’s boxing coach Narjit Singh. His restrained and emotionally grounded performance earned him wide praise and a Film fare nomination.

The veteran actor's untimely demise has left his fans, family and friends in a state of shock and mourning. We pray Lord for his heavenly abode and extend our heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family.
