Unexpected political scenario?

Unexpected political scenario? One should not be surprised seeing the existing political mess created by the undemocratic political activities of some of the senior leaders of major political parties turned around in anti-clockwise direction giving them real political shock, by looking around some unusual political scenario being developed in and outside the country. I hope, they would realize their past political blunder on time and take conciliatory political moves. Otherwise, it could be costly for them in the coming days.   It has been almost two months the NC, the Maoist Centre and the JSP-N, who had vehemently objected PM Oli’s decision to dissolve HoR, have not been able to form a new government. It seems that they are busy in bargaining among themselves to fulfil their personal agenda rather than discussing about the national agenda and coming to consensus on forming the next government. This situation has given Oli’s government an opportunity to continue leading...

Stop being foreign agents

The Himalayan Times 8 April 2021 Stop being foreign agents It will not be surprising to see another coalition government in the near future based on the interest of foreign powers. That is how Nepali politics works, and the trend has been going on for decades. The people have been experiencing most unproductive politics since the last 15 years. Many unconstitutional moves were taken in the name of the peoples’ movement and 12 point agreement that took place in a foreign land in between the then seven party alliance and the Maoists.    Intra-party feud and the politics for power are responsible for the political mess. Having said this, why doesn’t the NC that claims to be the champion of safe-guarding democracy convince the other parties to go for a mid-term or early polls either under its leadership or by supporting the Oli-led government to seek a fresh mandate of the people? If the NC were to take such a bold and decisive action, it is for sure that the people w...

Be nationalistic leaders

Be nationalistic leaders It will not be surprising to see another coalition government in near future based on the interest of foreign powers. That is how the Nepali politics works and has been going on in the same trend for the first 15 years and the last 15 years. The people have been experiencing most unproductive politics during the last 15 years. Many unconstitutional moves were taken in the name of the peoples’ movement and 12 points agreement that was taken place in foreign land in between the then seven party alliance and Maoist.    The factional politics and the politics for power has been the crux of the national political mess. Having said all this, why doesn’t the NC, who claims to be the champion of safe-guarding democracy, convince other parties to go for the mid-term or early polls either under its leadership or supporting the Oli led government for seeking fresh mandate of the people? Either amend the current constitution or revive 2047 constitution

Either amend the current constitution or revive 2047 constitution One should not be surprised to learn that the Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to ask the Oli led government to pave the way for the formation of new coalition government under its premiership. That is how the Nepali politics works and has been going on in the same trend for decades. The people have seen and experienced most unproductive politics in their country during the last 15 years. Many unconstitutional moves were taken in the name of the peoples’ movement and 12 points agreement that was taken place in foreign land in between the then seven party alliance and Maoist.                                                                                 The intra-party feud a...

Fantastic decision

The Himalayan Times 1 April 2021 Fantastic decision Finally, PM Oli, also as the chairperson of the UML, decided to suspend Madhav Nepal and Bhim Rawal from the party for the next six months, saying that the suspension period could be shortened or extended depending on their political actions and motives “UML suspends leaders Madhav Nepal, Bhim Rawal for six months” (THT, 30 March, Page 1). If I were asked what actions I would recommend for their anti-party activity, I would say suspend them forever. I really appreciated PM Oli’s move to suspend them for their acts to undermine the statue of the party. They are to be blamed for compelling Oli to dissolve the House and seek a fresh mandate of the people.   Having said this, I have personally nothing to do with the party and its senior leaders. This is just to express my concern and anger, as a senior citizen and a voter, towards their unhealthy and immoral political acts when they were supposed to be concentrating their ti...

Can Oli government survive?

Can Oli government survive? I am just wondering what happens to Oli government if Prachanda and team withdraws its support to the government.   Can it survive joining hands with JSP-N? It does not seem that the NC comes forward for its rescue for a number internal and external power games.     I see the possibility of continuation of Oli government for some unusual reasons even if the JSP-N, the Maoist-Centre and the NC decide to join hands. This coalition government does not last long for some technical reasons. Even if it becomes reality, then this coalition government will be the next most corrupt government that will rob the central treasury.   PM Oli’s decision to dissolve the HoR and go for the mid-term polls was the most favourable political option for the nation considering the political uncertainty created by his fellow comrades. However, the SC’s verdict put a break on his move. It remains to be seen whether the nation will see another coalition gov...
